Yesterday, I gave my two younger brothers, Caleb and Kayden, two glow in the dark stars and took them upstairs to a dark room to demonstrate how they glow. I asked Caleb what he thought about the stars and he said, “Well, they’re kinda cool. When you do them under the pillow and they turn green, it’s like they’re in camouflage.”
It’s so amazing how when you’re young, as young as three and five, you take so much joy in the small things in life, like glow in the dark stars. And then, when you’re my age, you take more joy in bigger little things, like getting an A in school or getting an mp3 player. Wouldn’t life be so much happier if everyone took as much joy in little things like the wonder of glow in the dark stars or even the real ones that God handcrafted? How often do you go outside and look at the stars and think, “Wow, those are so much better than those glow in the dark stars, even though they are pretty cool.”
Can you believe that the same great, awesome, mighty, powerful God made you? God wants you to be like a star, shining in the darkest, dingiest corners of the earth. And He wants you to be amazed at His handiwork. After all, you have to admit that it’s pretty amazing.
